We read a lot about the mind-body connection and use it as a method to set unrealistic expectations for weight loss and beat ourselves up for not being disciplined enough, not achieving or sustaining our goals. I don't know about you, but I don't respond well to bullying - even if I'm the one doing it.
When is the last time you really listened to the things you say to and about yourself? What about the way you allow others to speak to you or treat you?
If these voices trigger emotional eating or binges, know that you are not the problem. You are not weak, faulty, or wrong. You are a victim of bullying.
Stopbullying, gov offers these 4 preventive measures which can easily be adapted from the classroom to our inner sanctum:
If you're wondering if your healthy eating has, in fact, become unhealthy, Registered Dietician Marci Evans suggests asking yourself these questions:
There is life-changing magic in breaking the rules of dieting.
When I was first introduced to the idea of intuitive eating it frightened me. I have been a carb/calorie/snack counter most of my life and I was afraid that if I allowed myself to eat what I really wanted instead of what I was "allowed," I would never stop eating and would gain 100 pounds.
A lifetime of diet failures persuaded me to give it a try.
Practicing patience to change my mind and listen to my body has been difficult but not impossible. That's why I started this blog and the Facebook support page.
I'm only half way through the process but it has been transformational already!
Intuitive Eating is a life-changing process that uncovers your beliefs, challenges your old ways of thinking, exposes deep emotional rivers of healing, restores the mind-body connection, and ultimately delivers you from the hell of diet disillusionment to the Promised Land of fun movement and gentle nutrition.
Chronic dieters, however, are uncomfortable without a hard and fast set of rules to live by: touch not, taste not, want not. We want the dream every diet promises but we travel the valleys of despair most of our lives. From oasis to oasis. It looks something like this:
Change happens when you decide that the pain of where you are is greater than the fear of where you're going.
Resistance begins when your ego tries to keep you safe by making excuses about why it won't work or why it doesn't apply to you. ("You don't have enough time, money, patience, willpower. You've never been able to stick with anything before. You don't need them, you can do it on your own.")
Panic occurs when you reach the upper limits of your comfort zone. It is that last chance to change your mind and go back to playing small instead of breaking through to your best self and living the life of your dreams.
Success is the benefit of feeling the fear and doing it anyway. From the other side of the challenge, you can look back and see that the panic wasn't real. It was an illusion. A misguided attempt to keep you from being, doing and having all that God intended for you.
Lesson of the day: Don't Settle for Less than you Deserve
Wouldn't you love to break the diet cycle once and for all?
What if you've been mislabeled all these years with some type of eating disorder? What if it's not an addiction at all?
What if your body is driven by primal hunger as a result of compulsive dieting?

As a leader and facilitator, I have always taught the things I most needed to make permanent in my life. It is my style to blaze a new trail, bring along anyone who wants to share the journey, and leave a bread trail of step-by-step instructions for those adventurers who happen across the trail later. Intuitive eating is no different.
Each journey is as unique as your very own fingerprint. Combine that with the Fingerprint of God and you have an unbeatable combination.
Here is what I have learned so far:
1. There is no patent on "Intuitive Eating".
2. There are lots of people making lots of money on this just like any other weight loss remedy out there.
3. We can't turn this corner without being willing to completely transform our ways and our way of thinking.
4. We cannot do this alone.
5. I am appalled at how much these coaches want - and are getting paid - to translate the principles of this difficult read and baby step us through it.
6. Transformation is not the 30-day magical fix that most dieting females want. This shit is hard and I need fellow sojourners.
I chose to become certified as a way to cement the learning for myself more rapidly. Ha! Rapid means 1-2 years which is far longer than any book study group will last.
Unfortunately people only seem to value what they pay for. What's wrong with "for fun and for free"?
