It Is estimated that 31 million people are now in a group who are Christians but don't go to church. Experts call them the "Dones."
Church leaders who step outside of groupthink are being publicly shamed and discredited. For what? For being imperfectly human - just the way God designed us.
According to Brian Bennett, founder of FREEk Island, another study shows that as many as 10% of people currently in church are "almost dones." Those are not all baby boomers. This exodus from the traditional church is multi-generational.
These are people who still have a heart for God, and fortunately God has not forsaken them (us).
I prefer to see this not as the death of Christianity but revival in the clearest sense of the word. It is a season of surrender with time for reflection and restoration. We the church are pregnant with possibility. We just need some Spiritual Childbearing tools and tips for a healthy delivery!
God is preparing the way for His people to be midwives and witness the miracle of birth rather than be absorbed by a culture that has left Him in the waiting room while they perform plastic surgery that makes churchgoers look good and act right in public, but leave them bleeding internally.
It is time for a transfusion of Grace. Hope. Strength. Passion. Life. Abundant Life. A cup continuously filled and naturally overflowing to the thirsty masses.
