I once thought life was like peeling an onion - a little work, a few tears, and a new layer of pungent odor. Rinse and Repeat.
Then I considered it might be like an upward spiral where you cycle around the same core issues but at a higher level each time.
Judith Viorst in the book "Necessary Losses" suggested that the first half of life was about acquisition and the second half was about letting go.
I'm in the second half. I'm not ready to let go. I don't intend to age gracefully. And I refuse to be told what to do.
How about you?
